Notes:
Act I:
Movement/George - Okay, we’re halfway through the opening
number, and everything y’all have shown me so far as being “over the top” is
EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE EVERY TIME HOLY ****
Octave – this level of over the top is great for Octave. You
can get closer to this during performance!! (Not the speed so much, but the energy!)
Syl – always make eye contact with the audience when
interacting with them (waving, etc)
Oct – yes with the over the top reactions to Scapin telling
the charades story!!
Syl – Dooooon’t forget to act very innocent when Octave
turns around during charades!
Scap – today is the first time in a long time I’ve heard you
say “because I would have used it against him”
Oct/Hya – This speed is closer to how we should run this.
Find something between your usual speed and this one, plz. And Hya – keep this
energy on stage. Be this over the top always.
Porters – gud.
SCAPIN – I HEARD YOU SAY “WHAT WHAT” AND “WHO!!!” AHHHHHH
Syl – you should say “he’s good” and “whatever” much closer
to this!!
Scap – Yay! Spanish Wine monologue!!
Scap – “It was me” yes, can hear! Good!
Lean – wait until after Syl says “zamboni” before saying “Zerbinette”
Syl – drop the sword that way, it’s better than the way you’ve
been doing it.
Scapin – yesss! Carnivorous bees!! I have not gotten to hear
you say that in a while.
Syl – this is much closer to the speed your monologue should
be running at.
Scapin – “something that he said that I had said to you.”
Yes yes yes yes yes yes
Nerine – I like the butterfly arms. They are silly.
SCAPIN - SELFIES
ALL – There’s a lot of energy that I’ve seen from people
today that I would love to get funneled into tomorrow. Movement ensemble, you
can go as hard as you did today all the time, and it will be wonderful.
Sylvestre – don’t go this fast, but keep this energy and
this silliness.
Argante – definitely don’t go this fast, because you stop
articulating when you do, but this energy. Mmm. Good.
Geronte – I appreciated the more silliness once you degrade
into tantrum mode.
Octave – Be this floopy and useless all the time – but less
shrill.
Leander – At your highest energy points tonight is where you
should be always. I don’t care if you have to chug an energy drink before the
show or run laps or do fifty jumping jacks – GET YOUR ENERGY TO THIS POINT!!!
EVERY NIGHT! And do continue to work on that diction…
Hyacinth – I mean, you’re pretty much always this over the
top, which is great.
George – the slumping walk is good, keep that. But probably
not the literal crying. As delightful as it is.
Act II:
Mess up song piece – okay, be this ridiculous always.
Scapin – “Please calm down, ma’am” – we always lose that one
Scap/Ger – let Ger go farther before you stop him with “you
can’t go home”.
Scapin – “like a sack of garbage, say”
Ger – I love the sack looking after Scapin when he goes to
investigate
Scapin – this is great – we’ve been losing both foreign
monologues recently, you can do these two this speed (the foreign parts, not
Scap’s responses), and it is fine. Like, don’t feel like you have to spped
through them, ya know?
Zerb – I never want to hear anything that high pitched ever
again. Wow.
Geronte – stay in the window until Syl says “Signor Geronte”
Sylvestre/Scapin – Wait for the laughter to end before you
do the “as what” “a PTA mom!” We’ve been losing it in the laughter.
